Representatives from Crew One Productions attended PLASA Focus: Nashville to take advantage of the incredible networking opportunities, observe some of the latest technologies available, and focus on the implementation of job safety.
PLASA is the industry leader for businesses that provide services and technologies to the event and entertainment industries. They are essentially the lobbyists for our industry and are responsible for writing industry standards, as well as focusing to improve business practices on an international level.
PLASA Focus: Nashville was held on February 18-19, 2014 in the Municipal Auditorium, and was the second dedicated event to take place in Music City following the first event in July 2012. This year’s event attendance included nearly 800 industry professionals educating themselves on the latest advances and techniques being adopted within the industry.

Seminars, exhibitor booths, and new product demonstrations provided by more than 60 of the industry’s leading manufacturers, gave attendees an experience unrivaled by any other event catering to the entertainment technology community.
Representatives from the Event Safety Alliance (ESA) were also in attendance and presented a very informative seminar on how the industry is making safety a top priority. The ESA spoke in length about implementing the new safety standards discussed in the “Event Safety Guide”, and how it applies to various aspects of the industry. The not-for-profit organization are committed to ensuring that safety is the number one consideration when producing and staging live events.
The Professional Development Program was yet another new addition to this year’s event and provided attendees with world-class professional knowledge, as well as insight into important industry issues. One of the more popular programs was presented by Ben Jumper, owner of Soundcheck and Crew One Productions, who spoke at length about the live event production community of Nashville and the way they were able to unite in an effort to recover from the disastrous flood of 2010.

This year’s PLASA Focus regional trade show was designed to provide attendees with an understanding of important industry topics, and help them gain insight into new developments within their industry. PLASA Focus: Nashville 2014 was an incredible experience and a great success for everyone involved.
For those unable to attend the event in Nashville, there are two more PLASA Focus events confirmed in Baltimore, Maryland on May 8-9, 2014 and Austin, Texas on September 10-11, 2014.
